The Open Time Content Social Feeds widget lets you automatically pull your latest Twitter, Facebook and Instagram posts into your email at the time of opening. This widget comes with the Open Time Content Basic Feature Set.

Contents

Introduction

Embed social widgets into your lifecycle emails to keep the content up to date and fresh each time the email is opened. Using a widget means that your email will always display the latest posts automatically, so you don’t need to pause and update the content in your lifecycle campaigns.

You can add social feed widgets to any of your marketing messages, such as welcome programs, promotional campaigns and sales recovery emails.

Currently the social networks supported by Open Time Content are Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Social feed templates

When you create a mailing for a social feed widget, you will find a number of templates preloaded into your account for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. These templates vary in width, size, style and design, and have different options for the number of posts you can display (from one to four of your latest posts).

If you would prefer to include a social widget in your own brand design, please contact Emarsys Support and we will add a customized template to your account.

Please note that templates are not dynamic and you will need to make sure that the template you select is the right size for the section in your email where it should display.

Instagram FAQs

  • Can I create tags if I don’t authenticate my Instagram account?
No. Authentication is required for this feature.
  • Do you store the Instagram password?
No. Authentication is managed by a token issued by Instagram which means we do not know, or store at any time, the Instagram account password.
  • What if I change my Instagram password – will the widget stop working?
No. We only need to do the authentication once. If the Instagram account password is changed your account will still be authenticated and widgets will work as normal.
  • What happens if authorization is revoked?
You can check whether authorization has been revoked by logging in to your Instagram account, navigating to the Settings tab and then opening **Authenticated Applications’. If your account has been authenticated by Open Time Content you should see this:

Changing a template in a widget

You can make changes to a Social Feeds template, even after it has been added to a live email campaign. To do this, simply open the template in the editor and save your changes. However, these will not be pushed through to the widget automatically.

To update a widget with the changes to the template, proceed as follows:

  • Navigate to the campaign where the widget is being used and open it with the Edit campaign icon.
  • Find the mailing which uses the template and click the Edit tag icon.
  • In step 2 of the wizard, activate the Change template checkbox to display your templates and select the one that you have edited. Even if it is the same template, you must select it again.

You do not have to copy the tag as this has not changed, but now the changes will be pushed through to the email. You can test this by pasting the img src part of the tag into your browser and checking that the changes have been applied.
